Sculptures in Västertorp

The sculptures are placed all over the neighborhood for everyone to see. It’s the largest public sculpture park in Stockholm with 21 unique pieces. Most of them are located near Västertorp metro-station on the square, the others are placed on sidewalks, in parks and on facades. The sculptures were created by Swedish artists in the 1930-1940s. The initiator for the project was the director of the building company who built the neighborhood, Fritz H Eriksson. He had a big interest in art and wanted the newly founded area to be full of culture. 16 of the sculptures were donated and deployed by Hägerstensåsens cultural association in 1955, the same year it was inaugurated by the king Gustaf VI Adolf.
